RSS – Again

July 16, 2009

Here is a blog post that did a good job summarizing RSS and why it is a nice technology.

RSS Appreciation Revisited

I use RSS all the time and would encourage others to become familiar with it.

GradeChecker RSS Feed

March 2, 2009

Using a RSS reader? Now you can get grades from GradeChecker delivered via RSS. This means that whenever a grade is updated by a teacher, the RSS feed with that updated grade will be delivered to your RSS reader. You don’t need to visit the GradeChecker site to check grades.

To use the RSS feed, visit the GradeChecker site and do a search for your grades. Then at the bottom of the results page, there will be a link to your custom RSS feed. Cut and past that link into your RSS reader and that’s it.

This is still in beta because I’m not sure if all readers will work correctly. Please give me feedback if you find any problems.

Recommended RSS Feed: Weather Alerts

February 10, 2009

One of my RSS feeds is from the official weather service alerts for the Tacoma area.

I don’t want to be bothered with daily weather reports… most days I don’t really care but when the weather is going to be unusual enough to cause some kind of alert, I get notified via my RSS reader.

Of course, there are plenty of RSS feeds out there that will give you daily weather forecasts if you’re interested.
