Tech Troubleshooting: Restart the Computer

February 24, 2009

We often receive tech help requests where someone is not able to login, access an application, reach files on their My Documents, etc.

The first thing to try is to restart your computer.

It may sound simple but it is often overlooked.

For a number of reasons, your computer may have lost its network connection to a server or other network location. Restarting the computer usually restores those connections automatically.

If you try that and the problem continues, please contact us for assistance.

The First Step to Troubleshooting Phones

November 4, 2008

Here is a phone tip for staff using district phones. If something doesn’t seem right about your phone such as calls going straight to your voicemail without ringing, give this a try:

Press the pound key four times (i.e. ####). That will reset your phone to the default settings.

Sometimes a phone may accidentally be set to theĀ ”do not disturb” or “forward” settings and you may not know it. Pressing the pound key four times is an easy potential fix before asking for more help.
